WireView GPU measures the power consumption of the graphics card and records the data to calculate total energy consumption. This data can be used to estimate power costs or compare power consumption between different graphics cards.

For review purposes, a special 60-second measurement cycle allows power consumption to be displayed quickly and easily.

It is also possible to measure power consumption over specific periods or during specific applications. In addition, the device can capture power spikes (peak values) that may occur during operation of modern high-end graphics cards.

The WireView GPU displays the measured values on the OLED display. The displayed information can be switched using the button.

Displayed values include:

  • Current power consumption (W)

  • Power (W), voltage (V), and current (A)

  • Minimum and maximum power consumption (W)

  • Average power consumption (60-second average [AVG W])

  • Total energy consumption [E]

WireView GPU is available in Normal (N) and Reverse (R) versions, regardless of the number of 8-pin PCIe connectors or the presence of a 12VHPWR plug.

Model

Connector Orientation

N (Normal)

Retention clip of the PCIe connector faces away from the GPU PCB

R (Reverse)

Retention clip of the PCIe connector faces toward the GPU PCB

This product is the Reverse (R) model.

In addition, two high-power variants are available for 12VHPWR connectors.

Functions

Power / Voltage / Current monitoring

When using a 12VHPWR adapter, ensure that each of the three 8-pin PCIe connectors is connected to the power supply unit using separate 8-pin PCIe cables.
The use of splitters (Y-cables) is strongly discouraged.

The 12VHPWR configuration supports the 600 W version.

Safety Notice

Depending on the graphics card used, especially with the GeForce RTX 4090, up to 450 W of power may flow through the WireView connection.

Due to the resulting heat:

  • Air-cooled GPUs: PCB temperature may reach up to approx. 60 °C

  • Water-cooled GPUs: PCB temperature may reach up to approx. 100 °C due to lack of airflow

Do not touch the WireView housing while the system is running under full load.
After shutting down the system, allow the device to cool before handling it.

WireView GPU is a device developed in collaboration with Jon “elmor” Sandström to measure the power consumption of graphics cards. The device is connected to the PCIe power connector of the graphics card and then to the power supply unit via the PCIe power cable. Power consumption data is displayed on an OLED screen.

At the same time, WireView GPU also improves cable management. Its U-shaped design optimizes cable routing. The PCIe power cable connects to the WireView GPU and can be neatly routed over the graphics card backplate, preventing cable bulging and making cable management easier.
